George Saunders was an anthropologist and professor at Lawrence University, where he was a professor for 26 years. His collection consists of notes and photographs from his 1974 to 1975 ethnographic research in Demonte and surrounding areas in the Piemonte region of Italy.

Biographical Note
Biographical Note
George Saunders was awarded his PhD in Anthropology from University of California, San Diego in 1976. He conducted psychological and ethnographic studies in the Piemonte region of Italy in 1972, 1974 --1975, 1979, and 1980. During the 1980s, he studied the history of anthropology in Italy and Italian Pentecostalism. Although most of his research focused on Italy, George Saunders also studied the family dynamics and psychosocial adjustment of Hmong refugees in Appleton, Wisconsin from 1982 to 1985. In the summers of 1995 and 1997, he did preliminary research in India on American students abroad. In 2001 he retired from Lawrence University, where he was a professor for 26 years.
