The microfilmed Wayne Amerine papers contain a resume; letters and telegrams (1966-1967) from the Dallas County United Fund, Inc., Keitz & Herndon Inc., Dallas Lone Star Gas Company, and others; exhibition announcements, catalogs, and invitations (1968-1982); newspaper and magazine clippings (undated and 1968-1982); a typescript of Amerine's log in which he describes his participation as a combat artist int he U. S. Navy operation "Roughride," (1971); journals (1979-1982) containing drafts of letters, notes, and writings on art and his activities, as well as annotated drawings, sketches and studies, and newspaper clippings; and undated photographs of Amerine and his artwork.

Biographical / Historical
Wayne Amerine (1928-2008) was a painter in Dallas, Texas. Born in Great Bend, Kansas, Amerine attended the Kansas City Art Institute before moving to Dallas, where he worked as the art director for the BBDO Adverising Agency. Amerine was also served in the U. S. Air Force in the Korean War and as a combat artist in Vietnam.

35mm microfilm reels 3349-3351 available for use only at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and through interlibrary loan.
Existence and Location of Originals
Originals returned to Wayne Amerine after microfilming. Amerine reported to AAA in Dec. 2002 that the papers were subsequently stolen along with all his possessions during his move from Dallas to San Antonio, Tx.
