Appleton & Co.; Fisher Ames, painted by [Gilbert] Stuart, Engraved by T. Kellys; Elisa (?) Fry, likeness from a painting by C.K.Leslie, R.A.; John J. Pershing, Anderson-Lamb, N.Y.; Wm. H. Prescott, Engraved by T.B. Welch from a daguerreotype by Southworth & Hawse; [Benjamin Rush], unidentified; Sir Henry Vanel, fifth Governor of Massachusetts - born 1612 - beheaded 1662, D. Kimberly (?).

Ships/naval scenes include: a color engraving," A South-East View of the CITY OF BOSTON in North America--1723, London, Printed for Bowles & Carver, No.69 St. Paul's Church Yard; frontispiece from "American Water" (?); 1 page with 3 different riverboats: "The Osage," "Black Hawk," and "The Choctaw," by Fred B. Scheu, [18]85; and an allegorical scene with ship in distance, angel holding from chain, "Societas Cincinnatorium Instituta MDCCLXXXIII A.D."

Also included is a page advertising "Copper-Plate printing by [John] Ridley, No. 263 Pearl Street, Corner of Fulton-Street".

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Donated 1958 by the Argosy Book Shop. It is possible that these engravings were part of the Benson Lossing papers, the Robert Fridenberg Gallery records, or the Bland Gallery records, all donated to the Archives in 1958.
