The microfilmed Athena Art Society records consist of 10 record books containing meeting minutes, lists of members, treasurer's reports, clippings, announcements, programs, letters, and obituaries. Also included are 2 scrapbooks (1927-1972) containing clippings, photographs of members, exhibition catalogs, programs, and other printed material.

The Athena Art Society (est. 1903), once known as the Society of Toledo Women Artists, is one of the oldest continuous women's art organizations in the country. The organization was instrumental in the founding of the Toledo Museum of Art.
