Autobiographical letter (and accompanying typescript) written from Watertown, [South] Dakota, to Dr. Jesse C. Green, Nov. 12, 1888, in which Banvard boasts of his achievements, notably that the first chromo made in America was taken from one of his paintings ("The Orison"). In addition, a newspaper clipping touches upon his career.
