Scope and Contents
The microfilmed Philip Bard papers contain materials reflecting Bard's work as a writer and artist; his political attitudes and activity, and his career following a heart operation in 1951. The papers contain poems; drafts and synopses of stories; essays dealing with the role of the social artist in capitalism; clippings and drafts concerning Bard's play, Ninth Month Midnight; letters from Herbert Kruckman, reminiscing about their Art Union and organizing activities; business correspondence, some dealing with Bard's financial situation after 1951; sketchbooks; clippings; and catalogs.
