REEL 1779: 2 published books, WALDO DER PFAHLBAUER, 1927, and BUERGERWAPPEN IN FRIEDBERG, 1930, illustrated by Barnas; illustrated articles; lists of publications, illustrations, and articles by and about Barnas; clippings; and 57 photographs of Barnas, his family, etchings, and paintings.

UNMICROFILMED: 23 articles, clippings, and documents compiled by Barnas' daughter, Dora L. Skipper, from European and American sources, most written in the 1980s-1990s, and some written by Skipper. Also found is a list of posthumous exhibitions of Barnas' work, compiled by Skipper.

Painter, etcher, and illustrator; Germany, Ecuador, and Houston, Tex. Barnas was born in Germany and spent his student days in art school and travelling in Europe. He immigrated to Ecuador during the rise of Nazi power in the 1930s. He specialized in tropical landscapes and mountain valley scenes. In 1949, Barnas came to the United States, and eventually settled in Houston, Tex. He died in 1953.
