The papers of New York City art historian and curator Kit Smyth Basquin measure 4.8 linear feet and 3.49 GB and date from 1992-2012. The collection documents Basquin's dissertation research on artists Lynne Allen, Lesley Dill, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, and Pat Steir.
Writing and Research Files include a wide variety of materials such as correspondence, interviews and transcripts, photographic materials, printed materials, journals, exhibition catalogs, writings, sound and video recordings and subject files. Some of the materials are in digital format, including sound and video recordings. Also included is a bound copy of Basquin's dissertation, "Words Expand Postmodern Prints: Pat Steir, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, Lynne Allen, and Lesley Dill." The collection contains seventeen sound cassettes of recorded interviews and one lecture.

Kit Smyth Basquin (194?- ) is an art historian in New York City. Before retiring, she was Associate for Administration in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. In 2009 she completed her dissertation in Interdisciplinary Studies at Union Institute and University. She holds a Masters in Art History from Indiana University, Bloomington, and had previously worked as Assistant Director for Collections and Public Programs at the Patrick and Beatrice Haggerty Museum of Art in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
