Avis Berman research material on Juliana Force measures 11.5 linear feet and dates from circa 1930-2020. The papers document Berman's research for her book Rebels on Eigth Street: Juliana Force and the Whitney Museum of American Art, 1990. Included are letters; notes; articles; interviews; photographs consisting of 93 original Rieser/Force family photographs, mid-19th century through 1940s, 88 contemporary and reproduction photographs, mid-1930s photograph album of 23 original, high quality professionally photographed images of "Cobweb," Force's cottage in Rosemary Lane, Haddenham, Bucks, England; printed material including clippings and 2 magazines with articles about Force and her decor -- Town & Country (1931) and Country Life (1937); audiovisual material including videos and cassette tapes; transcripts; administrative and sales records (Whitney Museum); manuscripts; and permissions.
