An interview of Hans Burkhardt conducted 1974 November 25, by Paul J. Karlstrom, for the Archives of American Art. Burkhardt speaks of his experiences in New York in the 1930s; studying with Arshile Gorky; his career in Los Angeles; his friendships with artists including Mark Tobey; Los Angeles in the 1930s; his work; and teaching. Also present were Jean-Luc Bordeaux and Thordis Burkhardt.
