Cherry discusses his childhood; studies in California and New York; involvement with The Club, and his friendships with various artists including Stanton Macdonald-Wright, Thomas Hart Benton, Philip Guston, Fletcher Martin, Reuben Kadish, Lorser Feitelson, David Smith, Willem de Kooning and Clyfford Still.
