Biographical and genealogical data including early Cole family letters and writings, 1750-1900; correspondence of Cole and family including letters from owners of Cole portraits, friends and associates (see list of correspondents below); diaries, ca. 1904-1928; ca. 150 poems, articles and commentary by Cole and other including a report of Charles Melville Dewey's comments on the work of Albert Pinkham Ryder; financial records of household expenses and portraits painted; works of art including 5 x 7 self-portrait in oil, and sketches; also includes exhibition catalogs, clippings, and other printed material; and photgraphs of Cole, his family and friends, and photographs of portraits painted.
