32 sketchbooks, 12 loose sketches, a photograph of Deane, and an engraving by him. Most of the sketches are of medieval architecture and ornamental details in England, but also included are portraits, landscape, and genre in various places.

35mm microfilm roll 149 available at Archives of American Art offices and through interlibrary loan. Microfilm is also available at The Carnegie Museum of Art, Heinz Architectural Center, 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Originals were returned to Childs Gallery, Boston, Massachusetts, which later sold them to The Carnegie Museum of Art.
