Flora de Stephano (1874- ) was often featured in the paintings of Robert Blum. After his death, she claimed to be his widow. Eventually, she received a small sum of money, some personal possessions, and three paintings by Blum from his executors.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The papers were given to the donor, Alan Pensler, by Webster de Stephano Smith, a descendant of Flora de Stephano. Pensler donated the papers to the Archives of American Art in 1987.
Existence and Location of Copies
The collection is available on 35mm microfilm reel 4039 available at Archives of American Art offices and through interlibrary loan. Researchers should note that the arrangement of the material described in the container inventory does not reflect the arrangement of the collection on microfilm.
Processing Information
The papers were microfilmed after receipt on reel 4039. The collection was processed, and a finding aid prepared by Jayna Josefson in 2023 with support from the Smithsonian American Women's History Initiative.
