An interview with Miriam Hapgood DeWitt conducted 1987-1988, by Robert F. Brown, for the Archives of American Art.
Scope and Contents
DeWitt discusses her childhood in the New York area and Provincetown, Massachusetts, as the daughter of two writers, Hutchins Hapgood and Neith Boyce. She recalls various artists and writers, as well as eventful years in New York and Taos, New Mexico. She also speaks of her second husband, John DeWitt, and his involvement with major federal government art projects during the 1960s and 1970s.
