Dorothy Eisner (1906-1984) was a social realist and abstract painter in New York City, New York. She was active in many arts organizations and helped to found the Federation of Modern Painters and Sculptors.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Material on reel N69-80 was lent for microfilming 1969 and returned to the donor. Dorothy Eisner donated additional material to the Archives of American Art in 1980.

The collection was processed, and a finding aid prepared by Jayna Josefson in 2023 with support from the Smithsonian American Women's History Initiative.
Separated Materials
The Archives of American Art also holds microfilm of material lent for microfilming on Reel N69-80 including correspondence, exhibition catalogs and announcements, clippings, photographs, and a scrapbook. Loaned materials were returned to the donor and are not described in the collection container inventory.
Additional Dorothy Eisner papers are in the General Collection, Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale University.
Existence and Location of Copies
The loaned portion of the collection is available on microfilm reels N69-80 at Archives of American Art offices and through interlibrary loan.
