The papers chiefly concern the career of Louie H. Ewing, and are composed of biographical and professional material, with many examples of commissioned works of art. Also includes material relating to the Santa Fe artistic community.

Included are: biographical data; an eight page transcript of an interview conducted by Sylvia Loomis, January 7, 1964; letters received concerning Ewing's exhibitions and works; price lists; printed material, 1942-1982, including exhibition catalogs, and announcements, clippings, and reproductions appearing in books, and printed material; editions of the publication WORKS AND WORDS OF SANTA FE ARTISTS, 1959, 1965, and 1974; illustrations, and reproductions created for the Mutual Building and Loan Association, 1972-1973; an inventory, and Ewing's "Masterpiece" series, 1943-1947, commissioned by the Library of Anthropology, Santa Fe, New Mexico; eight sketches; twelve studies for color plates created for the Navajo Museum; a drawing for a poster of the 45th Annual Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial, Gallup, New Mexico; ca. 42 prints and five watercolors; and 54 photographs of Ewing, his artist friends, and Ewing's works of art.
