Scrapbook mostly relates to the art gallery in the Vallejo Library, San Francisco (opened 1934), and to the local artists who exhibited there.

Included are clippings about exhibitions, artists Dong Kingman, George Harris, Beniamino Bufano, Frede Vidar, and Clay Spohn, and art patrons Beatrice Judd Ryan and Albert Bender; price lists of art works; biographical material on artist Smith Nelson; printed material relating to the Art Students' League of San Francisco (est. 1934); exhibition catalogs of war paintings, of photographer Dorothea Lange, Estelle Claussen and Bufano; letters to Hager from Maynard Dixon (1), Kingman (2) and Ryan (1); and a menu, clipping and announcements from Bigin's Restaurant, a San Francisco restaurant opened in 1938 and frequented by local artists.

Maud Hager operated the art gallery in the Vallejo Library. It opened in 1934 at 1602 Vallejo Street.

35mm microfilm roll 855 available at Archives of American Art offices and through interlibrary loan.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Donated 1974 by Maud Hager at the request of Mrs. Wilma Harris, wife of San Francisco artist who exhibited at the Vallejo Library.
