To Dr. Jack and Shirley Mandel with all my love from Leonard Clayton (1971); in lower left of image is photographer's label: Leonard Clayton Gallery 161 Columbus Av. N.Y. On back of photograph is stamped: Edward Heim Photo-Maker 67 West 67th St. New York.

Art Gallery, New York, N.Y. Leonard Clayton founded the Leonard Clayton Art Gallery in New York, City when he took over the Marie Sterner Gallery. Later with his niece, Mary C. Liberatore, they established the Clayton-Liberatore Gallery. (The Clayton-Liberatore Gallery records are housed in the Archives of American Art collections).

Administration

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Donated 2002 by Shirley Mandel. Leonard Clayton gave the photograph to Shirley Mandel and her late husband, Jack. Mrs. Mandel, a member of Archives of American Art was moving and donated the image.
