Papers compiled by Patricia Hills concerning the restructuring of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) including the dismissal of Jonathan L. Fairbanks as Curator of American Decorative Arts and Sculpture and the dissolution of his department at the MFA in 1999. Included are a bound volume of MFA's strategic plan, "One Museum-New Museum-Great Museum, The Plan to Transform the MFA [Boston]," November 6, 1997; correspondence regarding the MFA Museum School; Hills's "notes/diary," July 4 - December 15, 1999; newspaper clippings and other printed material about the MFA's restructuring; and miscellany. Also included is a typescript of a lecture "Active and Passive Voices," delivered at the Clark Art Institute, April 9, 1999 by William Truettner, Senior Curator of painting and sculpture, Smithsonian Museum of American Art.
