Scope and Contents
Four letters, undated, 1934 and 1937, are from Malvina Hoffman to Mrs. James Parmelee. Hoffman mentions the possibility of visiting Mrs. Parmelee in Washington, comments briefly on her career activities, and inquires about the health of Mrs. Parmelee and her husband. Photographs include six snapshots of Hoffman, photographed by Edith M. White, 1921, at Tyringham, Mass and two photographs of Hoffman wearing a beret, photographed by R. Parry (Roger Parry), Paris, ca. 1925. The exhibition announcement is autographed by Hoffman.

Malvina Hoffman (1887-1966) was a sculptor, painter, and writer from New York, N.Y. Full name Malvina Cornell Hoffman; married name Mrs. Samuel Bonaries Grimson.

Existence and Location of Copies
Letters are available on microfilm reel 2814; exhibition announcement on reel D10 (frame 1287). Microfilm is available at Archives of American Art offices and through interlibrary loan. The photographs have been digitized and are available on the Archives' of American Art's website.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Letters on reel 2814 donated by Jack Perry Brown who found the letters in a book given to the library at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Announcement on reel D10 donated 1955-1962 by Charles E. Feinberg, an active donor and friend of AAA. The provenance of the photographs is unknown.
