Painter Martha Iredell (1908-1985) was a Virginia artist who figured predominantly in the local Tidewater art community. She served as President of the Norfolk Art Corner in the 1940s and showed many of her paintings in local exhibitions.

Existence and Location of Copies
The collection is available on 35mm microfilm reel 3622 at Archives of American Art offices and through interlibrary loan. Researchers should note that the arrangement of the material described in the container inventory does not reflect the arrangement of the collection on microfilm
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Martha S. Iredell scrapbooks were donated to the Archives of American Art in 1982 by Lela Hine of Norfolk, Virginia. Hine's relationship to Iredell is unknown.
Processing Information
The scrapbooks were microfilmed on reel 3622 after receipt. The collection was processed and a finding aid prepared by Jayna M. Josefson in 2022 with support from the Smithsonian American Women's History Initiative.
