Jennings discusses growing up in the Midwest with his blacksmith father and grandfather; moving to California and discovering his artistic talent; working for John Foster on his Temple Emanuel Commission as a welder and on various projects for the Golden Gate Int'l Exhibition (1939); studying at the California College of Arts and Crafts with Jacques Schnier and Harry Dixon; his business, El Diablo's Forge, which produced fireplace equipment, gates and lighting fixtures; building his home in Sonoma; people who have influenced him, including Sam Maloof, Harry Dixon, Dirk van Erp, Frederic and Letitia Meyer, and others; the California Blacksmith Association and the ABANA (Artist Blacksmith Association of North America); art vs. craft; and friends and colleagues Albert Paley, Hoss Haley, and Tom Joyce.
