Biographical / Historical
Gladys Kashdin (1921-2014) was an art historian, painter, and educator in New York City, New York, and later Florida. In addition to an extensive career showing her artwork she was a scholar of Abstract Expressionsim and received her PhD from Florida State University. Kashdin taught at the University of South Florida for twenty-five years and was designated Professor Emeritus on retirement.

Gladys Kashdin donated her papers to the Archives of American Art in 1981 and 1982.

All of the sound recordings in the collection were digitized for research access in 2009 and are available at Archives of American Art offices.

The sound recordings were digitized in 2009. The collection was processed, and a finding aid prepared by Jayna Josefson in 2022 with support from the Smithsonian American Women's History Initiative.
