The Vera Klement papers measure 2.8 linear feet and date from 1946-2015. Included are biographical material consisting of resumes and a transcript of an interview with Klement conducted by John Himmelfarb, 1985 ; correspondence with Frank Schulze and others; works of art including 13 sketchbooks, loose drawings and etchings, and a bound volume "Disorder and Early Sorrow, Homage to Picasso's Guernica, a book of collage-drawings-diptychs"; writings, published and unpublished about Klement and her works, exhibiton visitor comment notebooks, notes and poetry by Klement including a notebook compiled while at the MacDowell Colony, 1958, notes about art and teaching, and a eulogy for Harold Rosenberg, 1979; photographs of Klement, Klement with her works and in her studio, 1964-1980, and a group photograph of the MacDowell Colony, 1957. Also included are a CD "Vera Klement in conversation," with Linda Kramer and Sandra Binion, 2013; a DVD "Vera Klement: Blunt Edge," a film by Wonung Bae.

Vera Klement (1929- ) is a painter in Chicago, Ill. Klement studied at the Cooper Union School of Art and Architecture (graduated 1950). After moving to Chicago in 1965, she began teaching at the University of Chicago in 1969 and became a founding member of the "Five" group of artists, who protested the orientation of Chicago art during the early 1970s.
