Scope and Contents

Scope and Contents
An interview of Naomie Kremer conducted 2001 Mar. 16, by Paul Karlstrom, for the Archives of American Art, in Kremer's home, in Oakland, Calif.
Scope and Contents
Kremer discusses her experience as an artists' model from 1974 as a student in London to more recent times in California. She discusses issues of posing nude, something that was not fully accepted at the time; her interest in having that experience; her appreciation, after years of life drawing, of the contribution of the model; a photo session with Judy Dater at the Djerassi Foundation artist retreat; and the connection to her own current work about desire and tension. She explained how she is attracted to the "unfolding of impulse," both in posing and in painting.
