Biographical / Historical
Caricaturist, painter. Born in Hungary in 1889, Henry Major moved to the United States after a career as a caricaturist in Vienna and London. He became well known throughout the 1920's for traveling around the country caricaturing local politicians, businessmen and actors. He devoted his later years to painting.

35mm microfilm reels 3745-3746 available at Archives of American Art offices and through interlibrary loan.
Existence and Location of Originals
Originals returned to National Portrait Gallery after microfilming.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Lent for microfilming by the Smithsonian Institution, National Portrait Gallery. NPG received the material along with its acquisition of Major's caricatures in 1986.
