Established by Congress in 1965, the NEA is the independent federal agency whose funding and support gives Americans the opportunity to participate in the arts. From its founding, the agency provided grant funding in support of museums and other visual art programs.

Donated in 2021 by Amy Newman, former editor of ArtNews, who received the tapes from the NEA.

This collection is open for research. Access to original papers requires an appointment and is limited to the Archives' Washington, D.C. Research Center.
