A file of selective bibliographies, lectures, notes, and syllabi by art historians for courses at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, ca. 1935-1940; and one typed manuscript and four galley proofs for Pierson's book AMERICAN BUILDINGS AND THEIR ARCHITECTS, Vol. I (1970). Also included is a catalog card file used in the preparation of ARTS IN THE UNITED STATES: A PICTORIAL SURVEY, edited by Pierson, 1960. The ca. 6,000 cards contain descriptions and photographs relating to architecture, decorative arts, photography, graphic arts, Indian arts and artifacts, painting, sculpture, stage design, advertising, and cartoons.
