Biographical / Historical
Massachusetts family many of whose descendants were painters. Lendall Pitts, most recent of the family's artists, married artist Elizabeth McCord. They lived in Paris from the turn of the 19th century until 1938 when Lendall died and Elizabeth returned to live in America.

35mm microfilm reel 370 available at Archives of American Art offices and through interlibrary loan.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The collection was donated in 1961 by Elizabeth McCord Pitts and other family descendants through Edward Parker an acquaintance of the family and friend of AAA. The complete collection has since been deaccessioned and given to the Massachusetts Historical Society, Boston, Mass. AAA maintains a microfilm copy of the collection.
