Immediate Source of Acquisition
Material lent for microfilming in 1976 by Eleanor Quirt, widow of Walter Quirt, and donated with additional papers in 2023 by Jon Quirt, Quirt's son.
Existence and Location of Copies
Portions of the collection including ca. 600 letters from Romare Bearden, Stuart Davis, Eduard Franz, Abraham Rattner, Evelyn Scholl, William Steig, Robert Coates, Duncan Phillips and others; ca. 300 photographs of family, friends, and works of art; a sketchbook; notes and theoretical writings on art; catalogs; biographical information; clippings and other printed material are available on 35mm microfilm reels 570-572, at Archives of American Art offices and through interlibrary loan.
