Research material compiled in preparation for Seiberling's dissertation on Bellows, "George Bellows, 1882-1925: His Life and Development as an Artist" (University of Chicago, 1948).

Included are Seiberling's correspondence, 1934-1962, with Guy Pène du Bois, Walt Kuhn, Leon Kroll and Mrs. George Bellows; typescript copies of letters by George Bellows, a few compiled by Leon Kroll; writings, including Seiberling's dissertation and writings on Bellows by John Russell Taylor; research notes; clippings and exhibition catalogs; copyprints of photographs of Bellows, Bellows at a class taught by Robert Henri at the "Chase School," of Bellows at Henri's studio, and of works of art by Bellows, Henri, Everett Shinn and Diego Rivera.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Donated 1991 by Nancy Seiberling, widow of Frank Seiberling.
