The Mildred N. Beauregard Slide Collection contains 1,249 35mm slides, dated circa 1947-1971, of gardens and castles in England, Scotland, France, Holland, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, as well as American gardens, photographed by Mildred Napier Beauregard. Some slides show tourist sites and scenes including skylines, rock features, waterways, boats and ships, and unidentified individuals. The collection also includes two slide viewers.

The historic order of the slides has been maintained and reflects an organization based on geographic location. In rehousing the slides, rubber bands were removed for preservation purposes and replaced with archival quality card stock to indicate groups of slides that were formerly banded together.

Mildred Napier Beauregard was born in Milledgeville, Georgia. She was an avid traveler and photographer, taking numerous slides of the sites she visited.

Pierre G. T. Beauregard III inherited the slide collection of gardens, landscapes, and other sites photographed by his mother Mildred N. Beauregard.
Immediate Source of Acquisition note
Donated to the Smithsonian Institution's Office of Horticulture (later Smithsonian Gardens) in 1987 by Mildred Beauregard's son, Pierre G.T. Beauregard III.
