Christraud M. Geary, b. 1946, was curator of the Eliot Elisofon Photographic Archives, National Museum of African Art, Smithsonian Institution. Dr. Geary specializes in the history of photography in Africa and in the study of African art. She received a PhD in cultural anthropology in African studies from the University of Frankfurt, Germany, in 1973.
