Biographical/Historical note
Katherine McKee Sthreshley, born 1955, at Luebo, Kasai Oriental, Belgian Congo, to Presbyterian missionaries in the Belgian Congo, Charles and Anne McKee. Her paternal grandparents, George T. and Elsie McKee served as Presbyterian missionaries to the Congo from 1911 to 1941. Graduated from The American School of Kinshasa, Kinshasa, Republic of Zaire, 1973, BA in cultural anthropology from Florida State, 1976, and MA in Museum Studies from Hampton University, 1993. Staff member of the National Museum of African Art since 1997.
