This collection is comprised of Riva Berleant-Schiller's field notes from her research on the islands of Barbuda (1971, 1973, 1977, 1987), Dominica (1977), Montserrat (1979), and Nevis; maps; issues of Barbuda Voice; teaching materials; and correspondence.

Riva Berleant-Schiller is a specialist in plantation systems and peasant systems in land use and tenure in Carribean societies. She received her PhD from SUNY-Stony Brook and is professor emerita of anthropology at the University of Connecticut.
