The collection includes correspondence between Roscoe Wilmeth and various people regarding archaeological work for Navajo land claims, and diaries from the years he was carrying out this work. The bulk of the letters are with Richard F. Van Valkenburgh who oversaw Wilmeth's work.

Biographical Note

Biographical Note
Roscoe Hall Wilmeth (1922-1981) was an archaeologist whose research included work in the American Southwest, Kansas, and on Athabascan cultures. During his his graduate school years, Wilmeth worked for the Navajo Inter-Tribal Council documenting sites for land claim cases against the United States Federal Government.
