Includes 1 page letter of transmittal from Thomas to George Gibbs, dated Louisville, Kentucky, March 5, 1868, and title page in the hand of A. S. Gatschet; "Vocabulary of the Kuchan dialect of the Yuma linguistic family, by General George H. Thomas, U. S. A., 1868. Contains many tribal names in use among the Southwestern Indians. The Navajo vocab. by Gen. Whipple mentioned in the letter of transmittal was placed in the Athapaskan collection of the Bur. of American Ethnology; it is not Habasupai."
