Scope and Contents

Scope and Contents
MS 1339 was previously misattributed to Cosmos Mindeleff and believed to be the introductory to Mindeleff's manuscript for the BAE 16th Annual Report. According to Louis A. Hieb (e-mail correspondence to NAA, 9/2/2008), this document is in Alexander MacGregor Stephen's handwriting and is a rewriting of his introduction to his manuscript, "Catalogue of the Keam's Canon Collection of Relics of the Ancient Builders of the Southwestern Table Lands" (1884). Hieb believes that MS 1339 may have been submitted to Victor Mindeleff in 1888 as a possible introduction for the BAE 8th Annual Report.

Other Archival Materials

Other Archival Materials
According to Louis A. Hieb, Manuscript 3282 "represents the catalogue proper" of Stephen's 1884 manuscript, without the introduction. Newberry Library and the Peabody Museum at Harvard University also hold copies of the manuscript (with additions), both of which include the introduction that served as the basis for MS 1339.
