Newsclippings of approximately three columns of text, and illustrations of specimens found; also a view of Eggemoggin Beach from Brooklin, Campbellʹs Island in the distance. The material also describes the finding of a French "Skeleton in Armor" buried near an Indian chief, on Campbellʹs Island. Quotations from Longfellowʹs "Skeleton in Armor" are quoted in connection with this find.

Clipping No. 1 bears the following notation: "Newspaper account of exploration of Frank Hamilton Cushing on the Coast of Maine. Inquirer, Philadelphia, October 15, 1899. (Signed) W.H.H. (In Professor Holmes handwriting).
