This collection consists of Walter Hough's notes on Korean photos collected by Pierre Jouy. The collection contains 40 leaves of handwritten notes describing 41 photographs.

Biographical / Historical
Pierre Louis Jouy (1856-1894) was a collector of zoological and ethnological specimens for the Smithsonian Institution. In 1881 he traveled to Asia, where he spent a number of years collecting extensively in China, Japan and Korea.
Biographical / Historical
American ethnologist Walter Hough began his career at the United States National Museum in 1886 as a museum assistant; he would serve in a number of positions before becoming a curator in 1910.
