Cherokee Sacred Formulas: About 600 formulas recorded in the Cherokee characters, devised by George Guess, and obtained from several sources, and comprising the Swimmer, the Gahuni, the Gatigwanasti, the Inali, the Tsiskwa, the Aʹwanita and the Takwatihi manuscripts.
Scope and Contents
Of these formulas, about one third has been transliterated, translated and explained, with an accompanying glossary of about 2,000 words; this portion would make about 200 pages foolscap., and was prepared about 1890. A number of these formulas has been published in the 7th Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology.
