Custodial History
Letter of transmittal, from Hinman to Colonel Garrick Mallery, was received at the Bureau of American Ethnology June 4, 1881. Xerox carbon of the original in Bureau of American Ethnology letters received; is filed with the manuscript. Letter of Wayne L. Mitchell to Smithsonian Institution, August 15, 1971, transmits xerox carbon of fly-leaf of a Manuscript notebook of tales in possession of the daughter of S.D. Hinman for which the informant is Sanie Hoffman, age 31, the place and date- Henick, Nebraska, May 15, 1881. This correspondence is filed with Manuscript 2353.
