Biographical / Historical

Biographical / Historical
W. B. Truax became U. S. Indian Agent at Moquis Pueblo in 1875. His Report to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, (Washington, 1875, pages 211-212), dated Moquis Pueblo Indian Agency, August 31, 1875, states that this is his first annual report from that Agency and that he had arrived there "only about a month ago." No reference to Truax has been found in the Annual Reports of the Commissioner of Indian Affairs for the preceding years which would explain his status at the time the conversations with Manuelito took place.
