The first page includes the following note: "This is written from Latin, French, and English manuscript which fell into my hands while up North in Franklin County, N. Y. said to be the work of the Reverend Eleasar Williams the Missionary to the Oneidas. Mr Fulton (storekeeper in Hogansburg, N. Y. back in the 1870's) said it looked like Reverend Mr Williams' handwriting. Reverend Mr Williams died at Hogansburg, N. Y."/(August 28, 1958) Reverend Hayward borrowed Zeisberger's Dictionary of Wellesley College Library.
