These papers were sent to the Bureau of American Ethnology Archives from the Director's office by Jessie Shaw, summer 1965. Apparently they represent the residue of Stirling's papers that were considered neither official enough to go to the Smithsonian-Bureau of American Ethnology files nor personal enough to be taken by him when he retired on December 31 1957.
