Existence and Location of Originals
Copies were made at the Bureau of American Ethnology, ca. 1887. The whereabouts of the original are unknown, as are the date, place of record, and names of informants. Letter of October 7, 1960 from Joseph B. Mahan, Curator, Columbus Museum of Arts and Crafts, Inc., 1251 Wynnton Road, Columbus, Georgia states that original of Tuggle Manuscript, along with various notes and a journal are in the possession of Tuggle's granddaughter, a Mrs. Bethea of Atlanta, Georgia. She is unwilling to have the material copied or photostatted at this time, but is considering publishing the whole collection of papers.
