Notes include statements from Moroccan informants about the existence, location, physical and cultural characteristics of and superstitions about the pygmies. The handwritten notes include some statements by Moroccan and European informants that are not included in the typescript. Letters include: Haliburton to Max Muller, August 8, 1891, summarizing findings about the pygmies and providing brief notes on Berber and pre-Berber languages; Haliburton to Otis T. Mason, August 11, 1891, transmitting the notes and letter to Muller; Haliburton to Mason, September 6, [1891], giving permission to publish the notes and other information.
