The document is a street map oriented to the west. It is colored to identify the sea, temples and shrines, fields, and the houses of daimyo. The latter are also identified by family crests.

Gift from Mrs. Lispernard Seabury Crocker, 1961. She collected it in Japan in the 1930s. Transferred from the artifactual collection of the Department of Anthropology to the National Anthropological Archives by Chang-su Houchins, Jul 1984.
