The document is a street map that includes street names, names of public buildings and other structures (palace grounds, temples, city walls and gates), and other points of interest. The map has been annotated in pencil with English transliterations of names of city gates. The accession papers describe this as a "good specimen of popular Chinese cartography."

Donated to the Department of Anthroplogy in 1891 by William Woodville Rockhill. Transferred from the specimen collection to the National Anthropological Archives by Chang-su Houchins in February 1985.
